As he looked around and pushed the heard forward, he started to pick up the pace. Something seemed off and he was correct. Not soon after picking up the pace, a wolf started chasing him and lunged at his left hip. Not being able to react fast enough, the wolf made contact taking a bit to his hip. He waled before kicking out and shaking the wolf loose. He swirled his head around to see another wolf coming from his right. He was able to jump forward, making the wolf miss his other hip. Stumbling forward he tried to regain his footing, but another wolf showed his appearance. Luckily, the stag stumbling caused the wolf to miss his target. The stag waled before changing directions into the bushes the trees. Blood dripped from his hip wound, and it slowed him down.

Sinking her teeth into the prey's flesh she felt a moment of elation before the stag made a horrifying noise which led to the deer kicking out, releasing her hold she dodged out of the way of the hooves. To her right, she could see Mato diving in only for the deer to leap forward. For a moment the stag stumbled causing Tamara's breath to catch as Deva closed in only to miss. Tamara frowned as she watched it tumble into the brush. "Deva cut it off! Mato help me steer it." She huffed as she trailed after the swaying bushes. Catching up to the bleeding deer the hunter tried to run along its side. The brown hunter made to nip it hoping it'd angle itself more towards the hidden alchemist.

The deer perfectly dodged Mato's attack, causing him to plop face first into the dirt, and with his mouth open he got a mouthful of dirt and grass, along with disappointment and a slight confidence decrease he now had a foul taste in his mouth. "Deva cut it off! Mato help me steer it." Spitting out the dirt and leaping right back into the action, following Tamara, he cautiously hugged the deer's flank, letting out various growls and barks and attempting to nip at the already tender wound in hopes to turn it

Deva landed unsteadily on his paws as he missed the thrashing stag, though it didn't deter him in the slightest, infact it just made him more determined. He heard Tamara's command, 'Deva cut it off! Mato help me steer it.' the stag was changing direction, away from the hiding Brauner. Deva didn't hesitate and within a heartbeat was already sprinting to block the stag, he almost dived into the bushes it was heading for, span around and growled, trying to nip at its ankle and scare it back into the other direction.

Place 4 As the deer turned to head into the bushes, one of the wolves cut him off and starting nipping at his side. (Tamara) He called out in distress as the wolf's nip made contact, drawing blood on his other leg. Before he had a chance to turn, the other wolf (Mato) ran up along his side and bit down on his already open wound. The deer waled out in pain before changing directions, but not before the third wolf made contact. (Deva) The deer tripped on a hidden rock, breaking his ankle in his scrambling. He waled again before changing directions again only at a limp now. Little did he know he was heading into a trap.

The dark wolf crouched in the shadows of the underbrush, still and waiting, the tension building in his muscles with each passing moment as he watched the rest of the party chase the stag, staying well-hidden at his post. It had only been minutes, but it had felt like hours. Soon he could smell deer blood and hear hooves rapidly beating against the earth, drawing closer and closer by the second.
The party guided the deer in his direction. The stag barreled towards his trap, and Brauner prepared to lunge. When the deer was close enough, he sprung out from the bushes, aiming his jaws for the stag's throat.

Successfully landing a couple of nips the hunter along with the others managed to steer the bewildered stag back in the direction that Brauner was supposed to be. The Stag even seemed to be sporting an injured ankle thanks to Deva. "Great work Deva!" The elder hunter yipped delightedly towards the spritely male. Steadying herself she followed after with the pounding of her heart in her ears. 'Not long now...with Brauner and Mato it shouldn't be too hard to bring this Stag down.'
Ahead of the stag, the pelt of Brauner could be seen as he lunged forward with jaws aiming for the throat of the male Deer. She held her breath for a flitting moment until the bite landed. "Mato help bring it down!" She lunged for the back of the deer praying to the deities that this wouldn't end with a hoove to the head.

With his successful herding attempt giving him a confidence boost, Mato ran along the same flank of the stag, ensuring that it kept going in the right direction. Upon seeing Brauner land a successful grip on the stag's neck, him and the rest of the party closed in on the halted stag, "Mato help bring it down!" with that, he ran in front of the stag and quickly lunged up to latch himself onto the stag's neck. Mato knew that along with his and Brauner's strength they could bring it down, he never doubted Brauner's strength but no one could bring down a Stag by themselves, so in his mind he was helping Brauner, and not stealing the spotlight.

Deva felt a rush of satisfaction as he managed to make contact with the stag's ankle and injure it, most of all glad that he'd managed to scare it the other way with Tamara and Mato close to its sides. It was now wailing and limping straight in Brauner's direction. He felt excitement pulsate through his whole body, they were winning, this would be perfect to bring to the blessing! 'Great work Deva!' Tamara praised. He smiled in her direction happily "You too!" he called between pants, as Brauner and Mato were both at its neck, Tamara at its back. The stag was weakening fast and would soon be killed. 'Thank you, my deities' he thought, as he then ran at the stag's backlegs and tried to ram his shoulder against them to trip it..

As soon as the stag turned in the direction, a wolf jumped out of the bushes and sank it's teeth into his throat. (Brauner) The stag tried to yell, but the pressure around his neck prevented that. (Tamara) He tried to kick out to throw the wolf off balance, but only to have another wolf land on his rear, stopping his one legged kicking. Even though the deer knew this was probably it for him, but everything in his being was telling him to fight! Within seconds, another wolf was latched onto his neck and another rammed into his side, knocking him off balance. They all tumbled to the ground. His legs still kicking out, but was loosing strength as he slowly ran out of air. After a few more kicks of his legs, his body went still and he took his last breathe. His life may be over, but his body would give strength and nutrition to the wolves. His bones will become part of the ground, giving way to knew grass to feed his past herd. The circle of life would continue.

Brauner hung from the struggling stag's throat. It took all his strength and willpower to hold on, and he prayed to the Deities that he wouldn't slip and end up under the stag's hooves. Out of the corner of his eye he could see a dark wolf running—Mato. Yellow eyes shot wide open when he realized Mato was running past the stag's back and flank, and leapt for the throat as well. What is he doing?! Brauner prayed for Mato's sake that he didn't miss, lest he meet Vita.
He didn't, thank the Deities. But now Brauner had to worry about another wolf so close at his side, blocking him in case he needed to move if the stag were to buck. He could feel himself slipping, losing focus, but he snapped himself back up before he did. The stag stumbled, and it felt like ages before the great beast finally collapsed, thanks to Deva's attacks on its legs and Tamara's weight on its back.
Brauner made his grip tighter and tighter, until the stag's head hung limp. He dropped it, and stood still, then dipped his head in a silent prayer to honor the stag that gave its life to them. "Thank you," he exhaled. He then looked to the wolves that shared the honor of capturing tonight's feast.
"Great work, everyone. Masters Jethro and Talena will surely be proud of our hard work today. I’m honored to have had the privilege of being a part of this hunt," he said. His gaze lingered on Deva a moment and he smiled warmly. The boy's skill and talent reminded him of Tamara when they were young, though he was far more eager than she ever was.
Then his attention was on Mato, and his countenance grew stern. "Mato..." he said, "Why did you go out of your way to get the stag's throat?" It wasn't an accusatory question, but genuine curiosity and concern. He wanted to understand what Mato was thinking in that moment, when he leapt for the throat (a difficult target, especially for a clumsy wolf like him) when he could have easily tackled it like Tamara, or nipped at its legs like Deva. From his position, those options would have been far more practical as well as safer.

Relief, excitement and victory flooded the male when the stag finally went down, thanks to Tamara and Deva, only letting go when the stag stopped moving completely, and a huge smile appeared on the male's face 'I did it! I succeeded in my first hunt!'he bounded over to Tamara, his eyes lighting up in happiness. "Did you see me, Nana! Man, it was amazing, it was spectacular, it was...exhilarating! It was-- " "Mato...Why did you go out of your way to get the stag's throat?" His excited rambling stopped when he heard Brauner speak to him and his ears laid back for a moment, "I was just helping out...I thought that combining our strengths would bring down the elk faster..I didn't mean to take your spotlight or anything" his ears pinned back, realizing what he said might offend Brauner... "I didn't mean that...I-I mean..." his mind went blank, as he couldn't find anything to say to save himself from a lecture..

"I was just helping out... I thought that combining our strengths would bring down the elk faster.. I didn't mean to take your spotlight or anything," said Mato, his excitement quickly growing timid and uncertain. Brauner's expression tensed, his lip twitched.
"Spotlight!" he said. He couldn't believe it, yet he wasn't surprised, yet he could still feel his face and neck grow hot. "Is that what this is about to you? An opportunity for glory? To prove your might to others?" How could an Agent, a bearer of such a sacred and honored title, say such ignorance! How could an Agent take this honorable opportunity to serve the Guild and the Gods, and warp it into a matter of pride? How could this be his father's successor? Brauner's lip curled, his fangs faintly exposed. He had to take a step back. He did not want to be so angry on what was meant to be a pleasant occasion.
He took a few deep breaths and counted to twenty. He felt cooler now. Still irritated, but his mind felt clearer now.
"What you did was not helpful, Mato. It was reckless," he said evenly. "By running ahead and grabbing the side of that stag’s neck, you put both of us in danger. If you missed that bite, you would have been trampled, perhaps even killed. And I do not want to think about what may have happened if you missed the stag's throat and got me instead.” So many different possibilities ran through his mind, each as terrible as the last. Brauner felt very blessed that what happened was the best case scenario. His gaze shifted to Tamara for a moment, he could see the concern etched in her features.
"I'm sure Tamara would have appreciated a wolf with your strength to get on top of the stag and help her bring him to his knees. If you did that, he would have gone down much more swiftly, and with far less risk," Brauner said, looking back to Mato, his words gentler now. Addressed: Mato Mentioned: Tamara

Feeling the muscles beneath the deer pelt move Tamara tightened her hold on the deer while scrabbling with her back legs praying her purchase would hold. She thanked the deities that Deva arrived in time to halt the deer's attempt to kick which would have resulted in her tumbling. The deer and wolf hunting party tumbled in a flailing storm of hooves. Tamara feared for the wolves on the ground near the hooves but at the moment knew she had to keep her hold. Against her chest and stomach, she could feel the panicked breathing of the majestic creature slowly thud to a stop against her stomach. Once she was positive it was dead she safely slid off to the side. She gazed sadly at the deer's dull eyes before placing her muzzle near its ears, her muzzle brushing against the soft fur ticking her nose. "Deities of the land, guide this beautiful creature to the grasses of eternity so it may rest. Let the meat give strength to my pack so we may strive. And the soil of the land of its brethren grow fertile so its herd may prosper." She murmured solemnly with her eyes closed.
The brown furred hunter could almost imagine the soul of the creature arising from its body before leaving. Stepping back from the prey she stared for a few moments longer before raising her muzzle to the sky and allowing a loud howl to rise from her throat. One that carried over the fields allowing all to know that the hunt was a success and the herd to know they were done being hunted. A loss for them, and a loss of a father for a possible unborn fawn. Her saddened howl ended in a swoop before turning to the hunting party still unaware of the bickering males. "Deva, you've done most splendidly. I look forward to our future hunts. The lord and lady can rest easy knowing someone with such promise rises in our ranks."
She looked at her fellow hunter with her head held high with pride. 'I'll have to test him soon, maybe I can have him assist in teaching any new hunters. It would be a beneficial lesson to him. I am almost certain.' Wagging her tail at the thought she noticed Mato and Brauner at the front of the deer. 'Wait a minute...'
"Spotlight! Is that what this is about to you? An opportunity for glory? To prove your might to others?" Ears drooping she stared between the two in confusion. 'Wait? Whats going on?'
"What you did was not helpful, Mato. It was reckless, by running ahead and grabbing the side of that stag’s neck, you put both of us in danger. If you missed that bite, you would have been trampled, perhaps even killed. And I do not want to think about what may have happened if you missed the stag's throat and got me instead.” Making eye contact with Brauner she could only imagine the way her expression looked right now while she imagined what could have happened while she was on the deer's back. 'They could have died...' Brauner who had been previously riled up seemed much calmer now which done away with one of Tamara's worries.
"I'm sure Tamara would have appreciated a wolf with your strength to get on top of the stag and help her bring him to his knees. If you did that, he would have gone down much more swiftly, and with far less risk."
The female was overwhelmed with so many emotions, terror, an undeniable horror that the pup she had raised had nearly met his demise. "For what...Honor? To show your worth? What worth is honor if you could not live to glorify it. My child.." She gulped suddenly feeling as if her throat was full of sand. "The deities have chosen you for greatness, to die in a hunt is not one of them." She shook her head trying to arrange her thoughts. Her mind a mess in her strike of fear. Anger. 'He could have died! It was reckless. I was reckless.' The muscles in her face tightened as she fought to keep her anger off her muzzle. 'He has already been scolded by Brauner, I can only hope his words have reached him..'"In a time of hunt, there is no spotlight. There is the pack, our pack. Our sole purpose is to guarantee that they flourish. The only honor that we shall hold is to honor our deities." Her terse voice rumbled slightly before she turned away from the pair. "We...we shall continue this at a later date. Mato."
"It is time to bring our kill before the deities and our pack. May our kill be cherished."

Talena had always enjoyed this area. The giant stone archway always made her feel powerful when she had the opportunity to walk through or stand beneath it. As a pup she would sneak off here as often as she could and pretend to be a queen being crowned beneath the rocks as well as various other imaginative scenarios. As soon as the female entered the area she could tell that her other pack mates had been there as well. Their scents were everywhere. She turned to look over her shoulder as Jethro as she reached the top of the stair case, nodding her head as she woofed, "Come on slow poke, they went this way." She then continued down the path.

As the terrain changed from being filled with rocks and bushes to the forest, so did Talena. The scent of a fresh kill had began to flow into the area from the distance, a sure sign that the hunting group was successful! A smile formed across her maw at the thought of being able to get a decent meal into her belly soon. She tended to get a bit hangry when she went traveling for too long with no food to snack on. And with a good meal surely meant a good celebration for the whole Guild. She figured they all deserved to have an opportunity to relax and enjoy life for once. Too many people had a stick up their ass now and days, herself included.

"What you did was not helpful, Mato. It was reckless," The sound of bickering was the first thing to reach the leaders ears as she strolled into the next area. Her pace had quickened quite a bit from when her and Jethro had first started and now she found herself almost running. With a panting breath, Talena forced her paws to slow, both to get her breath and to allow herself more time to listen in on the conversation happening. "In a time of hunt, there is no spotlight. There is the pack, our pack. Our sole purpose is to guarantee that they flourish. The only honor that we shall hold is to honor our deities." She was glad to hear that somebody was still focused on the task at hand. Their whole purpose for the day was to honor the tradition of the Bonfire Blessing and that is exactly what she planned to do. Now being within range of the hunting party, Talena raised her head as she called out in a greeting to them. "Well I see that you guys can be useful after all!" She smirked as she approached. Her gaze trailed from each individual to the dead stag nearby, her mouth filling with drool before she could even realize it. "Man, that really is a meal fit for the Guild! It's practically a feast, don't you think Jet?" Talena's grin grew as she looked over at the other master, knowing he would share her enthusiasm in this matter. After all, food was one of the few things they both got excited over.
Their claws clacked as they climbed the stone stairs to the meadow. The archway towered over the stairs in its magnificence. Every time he walked under the archway, he felt like he was walking into another world. Well, technically they were entering sacred ground of the Guild so it made sense. "Come on slow poke, they went this way." With his thinking, he ended up getting left behind. "I'm coming! I'm coming!"

He quickened his pace to a trot to keep up with Talena. From Talena's expression, he could tell that she smelled the same thing he dead. A successful hunt. "This smells promising" She licked his lips at the anticipation of digging into fresh red meat. His ears twitched when he heard the others close by. They seemed to be a little uneasy with each other. It seemed Talena had sensed the same thing and quickened her pace even more.

Sure enough, as they rounded the last batch of trees and shrubs they could see a nice size stag on the ground. It looks like they had arrived at the right time to keep things from getting to elevated. "Man, that really is a meal fit for the Guild! It's practically a feast, don't you think Jet?" She wagged his tail and nodded his head happily, "It sure is! Great work everyone! It's going to be a great night for sure!" He licked his lips again, "Is everyone okay though?" Seeing the size of the stag, it must have been dangerous.

The male would whine out in an attempt to defend himself, this was humiliating! he was cowering by a lower ranking than him! A frown came across his features when he realized it...He didn't speak to Brauner for a few moments...they both needed to calm down, but he did straighten up, with his tail low but his ears were erect and head was high. "Im sorry, Brauner...I didn't mean to offend you...I didn't mean it to come out that way...Guess I kinda got lost in the moment" Mato spoke softly, but a tone in his voice changed, it was calmer and more neutral "What you did was not helpful, Mato. It was reckless, By running ahead and grabbing the side of that stag’s neck, you put both of us in danger. If you missed that bite, you would have been trampled, perhaps even killed. And I do not want to think about what may have happened if you missed the stag's throat and got me instead." allowing Brauner's words sink in, he allowed his ears to go back slightly before speaking again. "Again, Brauner. I apologize...Ill be more careful next time" Mato would sigh out, "I'm sure Tamara would have appreciated a wolf with your strength to get on top of the stag and help her bring him to his knees. If you did that, he would have gone down much more swiftly, and with far less risk" at the mention of Tamara, the inner pup in him frowned, causing his head to lower, he must have given her a heart attack at his actions...

"Nana..." the worry in her voice and the fear broke his heart, he scared her half to death, he'd frown as he turned to face her with his head low. Mato's frown only grew, he suddenly felt like there was no way he could apologize for his actions, he felt horrible on top of his exhaustion from the hunt itself, he'd turn away as well before walking to a spot nearby the group and sitting down...He needed to think.
When the master's arrived, he just offered a soft nod in acknowledgement and a soft smile, before returning to his thoughts. He had to do better, for the sake of the Guild, for his life...But how? 'Maybe I missed the Agent class...'
